Breaking Barriers to Food Insecurity in NL is a week-long conference happening March 15th-21st that engages youth ages 15-29 in the fight against food insecurity in our province.
There will be one speaker featured every evening from Monday, March 15th to Friday, March 19th to educate youth on what their organization is doing to combat food insecurity and how they can join the fight. Then, from Friday, March 19th to Sunday, March 21st, youth will participate in a Hack-A-Thon which will allow them to discover new and innovative ways to join the fight by creating a sample business plan with the objective of combatting food insecurity. There will be workshops on business planning, mentor office hours, and an entrepreneurial supports panel to take in as well. To top it all off, youth will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for the chance at a top prize of $750 cash.
