Since moving to Newfoundland from the West Coast of Canada, Dan Rubin has spent the past twenty years figuring out how to grow food, herbs and flowers in our challenging climate. Using raised beds, building structures to protect against wind and cold, carefully selecting for locally adapted varieties and creating rich, organic soil, he has managed to grow corn, artichokes, grapes and peaches as well as more traditional crops. As founder of Perfectly Perennial Herbs and Seeds, he has offered annual workshops on Creating the Year Round Garden attended (so far) by more than 800 people. He loves sharing what he has learned with other gardeners and growers because he is always learning from them.
