NL Grown

(Click HERE to go to the Map of Provincial Food Producers)

The NL Grown Map of Food Producers is being developed by Nancy Winsor in a collaborative project supported by Food Producers Forum. It is based, in part, on the map of community gardens developed for Food First NL by Sarah Crocker, plus food production sites researched by Nancy and additional sites collected by Courtney Rowsell who worked with Food Producers Forum as a Social Enterprise intern.

The NL Grown Map will continue to grow, as we add information about food production and distribution sites. We need your help with this, as we identify farms, community gardens, individuals and families providing local food. If you know of a place that is not on the map, please email us at nlgrown@gmail.com with that information. We see this map as a tool for creating a more direct link between local food producers and consumers.

We have connected with a similar project in the Maritimes, to help build a regional network in the Atlantic Provinces for direct food distribution. Their website is: novascotiafood.com

We hope to support projects that address food waste, food security and food distribution over the coming months. We are already in partnership with the Social Justice Co-op NL to develop more effective sharing of surplus food from farms, gardens and retail outlets to reduce food waste and get food to those who need it most. If you have an idea for local food security, please let us know about it.
